Obsessed Single Art

Girly pop with a punk undercurrent, wrapped in teenage bedroom daydreams.

The Vibe

A visual love letter to Obsessed — the standout track from Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS (spilled) deluxe album. Sweet. Spiteful. Glittery with an eye roll. A perfect mix of feminine rage and eyeliner smudged too early in the day.

The Backstory

I’ve never been a full-on girly pop girl... but Olivia cracked something open.

When GUTS dropped, I felt it. When Obsessed hit? I needed to design something for it. This track had the perfect balance of glam and grit — so I channeled that into a single cover and visual campaign that imagined what it would look like if this song lived in someone’s real life. A little messy. A little chaotic. Totally obsessed.

The entire project came to life in one night — a spontaneous, sleep-deprived design binge powered by the repeat button and a venti iced coffee.

The Strategy

This one wasn’t client-led — it was all vibe and vision. But that didn’t mean it wasn’t strategic. Here’s how I built it:

  • Color Palette: Purple obvi, since that’s Olivia’s signature color, with some ultraviolet lighting thrown in the mix. Tried to keep everything dim and moody as well, like high school heartbreak in prom lighting.

  • Typography: Ransom note esque letters + a girly script = sweet n’ sour energy in font form.

  • Mockup Environment: The single is shown in a dreamy-but-disheveled bedroom — the kind of place you’d cry, journal, and blast this song on repeat while texting your best friend about him.

  • Formats: Designed across cassette, CD, and vinyl — a nod to nostalgic music collecting and the evolution of pop-punk girlhood.

The Glow-Up

This passion project reminded me why I design in the first place — to create things that feel like music. It also helped me tap into a more playful, feminine side of my style while still holding onto Riot Girl’s edge.

Someday I hope Olivia sees this. Until then, it’s living rent-free in my brain... and hopefully on your moodboard.

The Final Look

A full fantasy drop for a song that deserves its own universe. The project captures the feeling of being the girl who wasn’t picked... but looked better anyway.
